Meet our Founder—Christopher H. McKinney Sr.
Christopher H. McKinney Sr. is a turnaround executive, leadership advisor, and retired U.S. Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant with more than 30 years of experience leading people and organizations through complexity, transition, and change.
After retiring from the Air Force, Chris brought three decades of leadership experience into a very different environment as CEO of Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments. He applied the principles that shaped his military career (clear expectations, disciplined execution, leader development, accountability, and trust) to an organization in need of transformation. During his tenure, employee engagement increased from 50% to 95%, project output increased 250%, and the organization secured 167% more competitive funding in four years than it had during the previous decade.
That experience showed Chris that the leadership principles he had developed over decades could translate across organizations and sectors. After prayer and reflection, he founded 10X Leadership Consulting to help other leaders and organizations apply those lessons to their own challenges, particularly during periods of transition, underperformance, and change.
Chris later returned to executive leadership as CEO of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission, a six-state federal-state enterprise serving 51 million residents. Following complete staff attrition, he rebuilt the organization and its operating systems while deploying more than $53 million in federal capital and leveraging $135 million in additional investment. The experience further strengthened his understanding of what it takes to align people, strategy, systems, and execution in complex organizations.
Today, Chris brings those experiences together through 10X Leadership Consulting, working with CEOs, boards, public agencies, and nonprofit leaders to diagnose what is getting in the way of performance and build practical paths forward.
